Hmmm...That was my initial reaction to this. It looks like a big pink and red steak. Why would anyone want to carry around a purse that looked a steak? My silly girl has wanted this purse ever since it came out in 2003. The Meat Purse was a collaborative effort between Paul Frank & Mark Ryden, Jenna's favorite artist. Since there were only 500 made, people lined up around the block to
stake steak their claim on one of these..heehee. I couldn't resist.
A few days ago, she found one on eBay and sent me the link with a note saying "IT'S ALL I WANT FOR MY BIRTHDAY!" Her birthday is not until April mind you, but these bags don't pop up very often so she put in an early request. These were selling on ebay last year for double what I paid, so I'm glad we waited. I decided to pick it up locally since the seller was located in San Diego, so we headed off to downtown Horton Plaza. Seeing the look on Jenn's face has she took it into her hands was priceless. Worth every penny. So if you are wondering what the meat purse looks like on the steak side...
click here. No grill marks, just marbling..ewww! At first I was thinking...
what did I just buy?...but the more I look at it, it's starting to rub off on me.
Here she is pictured with Ryden a few years ago, at the Museum of Contemporary Art in LA. She was on cloud nine...can you tell? She plans to take it to his next show to have it signed. It will then be complete.
