More Junk...NO room!

I wish I could stop...but I can't!

Our family room is busting at the seams, so something has to give. I brought home this pair last week..could not pass them up, even though I don't really NEED them. I am thinking of taking out the love seat and placing them against the wall in it's place. I know the doggies love their love seat...but I'm tired of fluffing the cushions!

So when I ask my husband what he thinks, he looks at me and shakes his head and says "you're going to do what you want to do , so why ask my opinion?" He's right, for once. `)

Spring Happenings*

Mr. Owl is slightly off, but it was still a beautiful warm day!

This little cactus is near our back door and I never really pay much attention to it until it blooms. Love the color on the blooms..it made me smile today.

My husband had a truck load of extra dirt two years ago, and decided to make this mini mountain. At first I wasn't too pleased, but after awhile, that old dirt pile took on an entirely different look. He planted a few pieces of ice plant and cactus and it doesn't take much care at all!

A Beautiful Ending...

I had just spoke to my husband on the cell 30 minutes earlier, so when the phone rang again, I wondered why he would be calling back again. He just called to tell me to run outside quickly to see the gorgeous sunset! So I grabbed the only camera within reach...my trusty old Sony Mavica with a FLOPPY DISK,(are these considered an antique yet?)... and had about 15 seconds to get these two pictures. It was over in seconds and I was so fixated on the colorful sunset,that I failed to look up to the beautiful cloud formation. That's when I took the second picture. I wish my bud Amy was here..I'd love to see the photos she would have captured!

Being sick is the pits. It's been a rough week..first Jenna, then me. Ugh.

Flea Market Sunday

I knew it was going to be chilly, but I set the alarm anyway. Jenn and I set out to the local flea market today, to see what we could drag home. She found a mannequin head, a lamp and a painting. Not too shabby. I didn't have as much luck, although I did find a seller with bowls full of junk jewelry for crafting. I was happy with my $20 bag of broken beauties. We ran across the cutest little thing that wasn't for sale. His name was Leroy, and he put a smile on everyone's face that walked in front of this seller's booth. The seller had tables lined up, stacked with books. Leroy's job was to patrol the tables, giving out complimentary puppy kisses. No purchase necessary.


This little guy never stopped to rest. He would run back and forth, the length of all those tables. Leroy put a smile on even the grumpiest of faces. :)

I can't wait to see him again next Sunday... I'm going to bring him a peanut butter biscuit.

I just had to go back ...

Ok..I think I'm addicted to this place. I just can't stop thinking about it and I had to stop in again to see if there was anything new this week. And what I saw as I entered the door, took my breath away.

If I were remodeling my kitchen, I'd drag this baby home and plan it around this corner piece. Original old creamy paint and wavy glass doors. I just couldn't stop staring at this piece!

The price was really not bad either - $1500 .

I picked up a few architectural treasures and a pretty mirrored light switch cover for my bath.

My husband just returned from a visit to his parent's
in Maryland this past week, and he found a treasure!
Look at what he surprised me with!


There are numerous Valentine & Romantic tinted photograph cards,Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, St. Patick's, Patriotic, Bathing Beauties and ROSES! I have too many favorites, but here are a few that I just adore.






I was so lost in this book, that I may have forgot to hug my poor husband...
I hope he doesn't waste a trip to the card shop today, because I'm content with all of these cards!
Our daughter immediately snagged these 3 postcards below to display in her room.

My "Watch List" is full.

I spend way too much time on eBay these days,
so it's no surprise that I run across many unusual items up for bid.
I add them to my "watch" list out of curiosity more than anything else.
I just recently discovered you can only have 100 items in your watch list.
I guess that proves my point..I spend way too much time on ebay!

Any way, I'm not talking about weird listings like
An imaginary girlfriend, an ex-husband,
The image of Virgin Mary on toast, or Britney Spears' chewed gum.
I'm talking about the unusual , really cool items that are probably a once in a lifetime find.
I love to watch the auctions, so here are a few of my favorites over the past weeks.

A Confessional...

When I first saw it, I immediately thought ,what a great
pantry or armoire this would make! Apparently, no one else had the need for it because it only reached $10 the 1st time around and $45 when relisted.


A wonderful antique hand carved child's harp


Loved this, and even had the spot picked out for it above my tole tray display.
I thought I might get lucky because it stayed well under $40....until the end.
It sold for $130. Probably worth much more, but
I'm sure someone will treasure it now.




A Carousel Rounding Board


This antique carousel rounding board received no bids
with a starting price of $125, although I see it just re listed.
Maybe it didn't sell because it's 8 feet long, and a pick up only.
I would have seriously considered this piece had it been 4 feet long!
I'd love to see the look on my husband's face if I dragged one of these home.
I saw the potential in this piece, but only because I recently saw an antique rounding board in someone's home recently.
A talented artist, Lori of Decorating with Art was commissioned to paint cherubs & roses across the board and it was gorgeous!
It was electrified and all I can say is WOW ! I know I will never see anything like it again.
I hope to return to the home in a few months so I can snap a picture of it for you all to see.

General Store Price Tag Set

A near complete box of 695 price tags and holders,
sold for $128.00. Loved it, but what would I DO with it?!!!
It amazes me that something like this survived all these years.

A favorite stop...

I visited one of my favorite places yesterday..Architectural Salvage, located
near downtown San Diego. The airport is just a few blocks away,
and since it's in the flight path, planes pass overhead every few minutes.
It sounds like they are coming right through the old brick building!

When you first enter, this is the first thing you see. Isn't he amazing?
I'd say he sure beats the heck out of a Wal-Mart greeter. :)
Imported from Europe and he can be yours for only $1,800.

A duck , a lambie & horse. Old pals that I hope stay together.

I grew up with these sinks in our 1928 home, something I miss and hope to have one again someday.

An unusual floral light..

Stained glass windows...so many beautiful ones, but I fell in love with the colors on this one.

If I could , I would take so many things home, but for today,
this will be my only purchase.

An old 3 goddess metal lamp base. There were
3 more and I am tempted to go back tomorrow and get one more!
I have no idea what I will do with it, but I had to have it.


I could spend hours in this place,
but was pressed for time so my stay was
brief.

It's A Dog's Life...

Like clockwork, Ms. Sophie takes her sun bath at 11am each morning.
Sometimes she'll stay there & snore for hours....what a life!

The Schtuff !

Garden bench made from an old twin headboard, and display case that was once a clock. Iron gates from a Coronado Island estate...not yet priced! We need to enjoy them for awhile.
