This is the big one....

I've experienced numerous earthquakes in my lifetime, but never one quite as long as today's quake. After about 20 seconds of being inside the house, I decided to make a move outside. It seemed to last forever, although it was over in less than a minute. Most of the quakes I have felt are a little more jerky..this one seemed to come in waves, which made me feel quite tipsy! Several after shocks are still going on within the last hour, but thankfully, no damage here..just a few hairline cracks in the stucco.
I found this video on You tube tonight. These guys didn't even wait but a few seconds after it ended before getting their drinks..I just found it funny. :)

We felt the earthquake up here in Orange County too. It must have been really swaying down there in your part of the world.

At first I thought maybe I was suddenly getting ill because it seemed like I was dizzy. Then I noticed the chandeliers swaying, looked outside and saw the water sloshing out of the pool like a mini tsunami, and realized, "Oh. Earthquake." It was a weird one too, wasn't it? As you say, not jerky, but a swaying, rolling, motion that seemed to last a really long time. Luckily, no damage here either. I'm always surprised when nothing falls down - there's such a lot of stuff that could fall down in my house. Other than the pool's water flinging itself all over the place, everything stayed put.

Glad to know that you suffered no damage as well & hope that despite the excitement, your Easter was a good one!

When I was a kid, we visited my uncle in LA, we were just sitting on the couch visiting and the pictures on the walls started to wobble back and forth, my uncle said, oh, it's probably just tremors...like DUH!!!

I've also felt tremors in Iowa and Colorado. My brother was living out there when the big one hit, he said he couldn't drive cause he was going all over the road(Santa Rosa)...

Glad yer OK...scary, sorta like when a tornado rolls through here!

It was a scary one...we were outside in my garden and the ground just rolled under our feet. Wierd!!!! Hey, is there a shop in Coronado called Maddie B's or something like that? A friend is looking for it.

Hi Sandra! I have never heard of that shop and tried to look it up through google with no luck. Sorry!
